Susan Schulman Literary Agency LLC specializes in representing foreign rights, motion picture, television, and allied rights, live stage including commercial theater, opera and dance adaptations, new media rights including e-book and digital applications, podcasts, NFTs, and other subsidiary rights on behalf of North American publishers and literary agents. The agency also represents its clients domestically and internationally in all markets. The agency has a particular interest in fiction and non-fiction books for, by, and about women and women's issues and interests.
The agency’s areas of focus include commercial and literary fiction and non-fiction, specifically narrative memoir, politics, economics, social issues, history, urban planning, finance, law, health, psychology, body/mind/spirit, and creativity, and writing, as well as non-fiction and fiction children’s books on all age levels.
The agency was founded by Susan Schulman who, before establishing her agency, was an agent at International Creative Management in the Literary Department. Prior to working at ICM, Susan taught History of the English Language and Linguistics as well as Renaissance Drama and American Literature courses at the college level. Additionally, Susan served as Associate Publisher of Ohio University Press and acquired over 100 titles for the Press.
Susan Schulman is a proud supporter of Room to Read, a non-profit organization for improving literacy and gender equality in education in the developing world. She is the founder of Goodreads Press, Playsmith Press, and a co-founder of Innovative Non-Fiction for Kids (iNK).
